Hamelmal Abate, an Ethiopian musician, won best Africa traditional music award in Afrima 2017 competition. She announced the news on her brief facebook update :

Based in Lagos, Nigeria, All African Music Awards Afrima promotes African music wordwide.
Many other African artics have won awards in different categories in this years’ Afrima competition.
Hamelmal has released numerous CD and has her own fan base in Ethiopian music landscape. In fact, her oldies are among popular Ethiopian music.
